Since opening the western branch of West Law Firm in 2010, Brian’s legal practice has encompassed a wide range of needs for his clients. His practice focuses on counseling individuals and businesses as they start, form, and grow. He has first hand experience having run his own business. He has experience with civil litigation, including jury trials. Additionally, Brian works in the areas government law practice, and criminal defense.

He has previously served as legal counsel for the Towns of Stevensville and Darby, advising on employment, contracts, government process, and policy. For criminal defense, he has defended both misdemeanors and major felonies to trial, including negligent vehicular homicide, negligent homicide, sexual intercourse without consent, and DUI. Brian remains open to new challenges and helping his clients solve their problems and achieve their goals. 

Born and raised in Billings, Brian attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, where he majored in International Political Economy and Mandarin Chinese. He was a varsity rower. He completed the Chinese Language and Business program on the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) campus. After graduation, Brian worked for a short while in Beijing for the IES program at BFSU. During law school at the University of Montana, he attended the Marco Polo-Zheng He Maritime Law program at Xiamen University in 2007 and was the president of the International Law Society. Brian was one of the Publications Editors for the Public Land and Resources Law Review

He lives in Missoula with his wife and daughters.
